Do It Like a Kid Club
Perfect for 9-11 year olds, The Do It Like a Kid Club is an alternative to traditional tutoring.
Led by an experienced primary teacher, each themed session will be hands-on learning, covering maths, English and science through fun activities. There will be new skills to learn, LEGO, street art, landmarks, rollercoaster designing, journalling, first aid training, mindfulness and a whole lot more.
The confidence building sessions are carefully planned for small groups, helping children to develop their love for learning through holistic teaching.
24/9 The Rollercoaster Challenge
This workshop combines science, fun and a little challenge! Your group will research, design and build ‘rollercoasters’ for marbles out of a range of materials. There will be speed and loop-the-loop challenges to complete along the way and a rollercoaster journalling activity too, as we reflect on the past few months.
01/10 The LEGO Challenge
You’ll be tackling some hands-on STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) learning in this workshop with a range of easy to difficult LEGO challenges. You’ll be researching, planning and creating your very own landmarks, using a range of bricks and blocks, while paying particular attention to the size, shape and volume of your creation.
08/10 The Street Art Challenge
Art or vandalism? Let’s have healthy debate about it before designing and making your very own street art canvas, in the style of Keith Haring. We’ll be delving into some colour theory and a brief history of graffiti before creating your masterpieces!
18/10 The First Aid Challenge
Daisy First Aid will be joining us for a fun workshop. You’ll be learning basic first aid skills and what to do in an emergency, giving you the confidence to use key skills when it really counts.
22/10 The Stitching Challenge
Try a modern take on embroidery by creating a Minecraft character, a graffiti style name hoop or even a pretty, floral design. You’ll design it, choose your colours and learn some new crafting skills for your creation.
THURSDAYS AFTER SCHOOL. Challenges are on from 3:30pm – 4:45pm but children can arrive anytime between 3pm and 3:30pm where they can delve into their homework or a good book if they’d like to, or they can bring a drink and snack and have some time before the challenges start.
ALL MATERIALS FOR THE CHALLENGES ARE PROVIDED.
PLEASE NOTE Please inform us if your child has been given permission to leave school alone and come to Do It Like A Mother HQ.
