The classes incorporate conditioning of the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles, mobility work to ease aches and pains, stretching and strengthening of muscles to assist posture and breathing techniques. The classes are even suitable for those with Pelvic Girdle Pain/Symphysis Pubis Disorder and can really help to alleviate some of the discomfort.

postnatal pilates

Each week, there is a different focus point which is relevant to the postnatal body and how to improve things like posture, the pelvic floor etc. (remember, knowledge is power!) and the idea is that you don’t just come along to Pilates once a week and then leave it there until the next week. Everything we do in the class links to things we can do every day to hep continue to progress and to help our body heal.

The classes consist of controlled resistance exercises using body weight and some small equipment. All of the exercises can be modified to suit each individual’s ability and some small adjustments are made if needed just to make sure that the movements are precise so that everyone gets the best from the class.

ADORE YOUR FLOOR

The programme consists of 4 one-hour face-to-face sessions to increase knowledge of the pelvic floor and how to improve conditions such as stress/bowel incontinence, prolapse, urge frequency and hypertonicity.

Suitable exercises for each condition are practised during the sessions, each of which are functional to help with active daily living.
