Monday Mother: Sarah Allanson, Founder of Guided Harmony

This week it is the incredibly gifted Sarah Allanson – Founder of Guided Harmony. I’m so thrilled that Sarah and I are working together at the moment to provide support to the mothers in my community who are seeking more balance. She is a seriously good egg. Check out her links at the bottom…

Tell us about what you do – your mothering situation and your work outside of that.

Hey, I’m Sarah and I am a mama to a 3 year old strong willed baby girl. I have two sides to my working life, I work 5 mornings per week for Southend Hospital as a specialist Dietitian on Critical Care and I started my own business doing Reiki, Crystal Healing and reading Angel Oracle Cards, which I do afternoons, evenings and weekends.

What kind of work did you do before having children?

I worked as a full-time Dietitian specialising in Critical Care and Stroke/Neuro rehabilitation.

How did you get into your current work?

My world did completely change when I had my little girl. I found myself so unbalanced, anxious and overwhelmed. It was like my little girl opened Pandora’s box for me and all the deep fears and unhealed grief that was inside me came out. I couldn’t understand why this was happening. More than three years down the line, I have a bit more of an idea. We are all on a different journey and for me the universe was saying it was time to heal on a spiritual level. Doing my first Reiki attunement was incredible and the start of my healing process. I loved learning about our Chakra systems and their pivotal role on our health and wellbeing. Naturally I found myself also using crystals, becoming a crystal healer was the next stage in my spiritual development. I loved energy healing so much, I decided that I needed to share my experience and healing and decided to start Guided Harmony. Working for the NHS part-time has allowed me financial freedom to help start my business and I hope to make my business my only employment.

What drives you?

My passion for helping people. I love being able to help my clients with their life journey and hopefully making it a bit easier for them. I have seen how my life has changed with Reiki and Crystal Healing and I would love to pass this on to help people on a spiritual level.

What is your biggest challenge in making it all work?

My biggest challenge has been believing in myself. It was very challenging initially to tell people about my spiritual side and my beliefs in energy healing. I was so scared that friends and family would think I was nuts. But, so many people have been so supportive, so this has helped so much and gradually as my business builds I know that the decision I made to move to this passion in energy healing has been the best thing I could have ever done.

Where will your work take you in the future? What are your plans?

As my business is only new and evolving very quickly, I would love Guided Harmony to be my full time focus. Next year I am looking forward to having group sessions that I can teach about the use of crystals and wellbeing. I would like to continue to build my social media following as I love to support and help people who read my posts about how they can take control of their lives and create harmony and balance. I am currently re-doing my website and look forward to writing my first blog.

What would you say to yourself as a brand new mum?

I would definitely say to myself – stop being so hard on yourself. We are all doing the best we can under the new stress of motherhood, figuring out how best to fee baby and being completely sleep deprived. Take each day as it comes and it’s ok to not be ok. Just ask for help, this does not make you weak and not in control. Once I realised this it was a true game changer.

Self care- what do you do to fill your cup?

I love to do things that take my mind to a special place where there are no worries and I need to focus at the task at hand. I love being creative with my hands. When I have time I love to crochet and something I don’t do too often now is hair and make up. I am a trained make up artist and hair stylist and love doing this mainly for friends now. At the end of a week I love to soak in a hot bath with essential oils and surrounded by crystals.
